Asalamualikum; really nice; and interesting! alhamdulillah;

The Mushaf of 'Uthmaan (radhiyaAllaahu anhu)

December 19, 2008 in Uncategorized

The Mushaf al-Uthmaani (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) :
moshaaaf1

The complete copy of the Mushaf ascribed to the third Khalifa of al-Islaam : Uthmaan ibn 'Affaan (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) on display in Cairo.
It is a rare , valuable manuscript of the whole Qura'n, written in the 'Kufi' script - which was the more famous script at that time.
This is one of the six copies of the Qura'n which were scribed at the time of 'Uthmaan (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) ; four of them were sent to the major cities of that time while two stayed in Madina.
And this Mushaf was preserved-during Ayyubid dynasty- in the safe of  books of the Sunnah built by the noble judge Adurraheem al-Asqalaanee. Then in the period of the Sultan Abu Nasr al-Ghuri - the last sultan of the Mamluk rule - he moved it to the 'dome' he built near his madrasa which he built. And he made for it a skin cover specially decorated for it : and this was in the year 909 Hijri  - almost 847 years after the Mushaf was written .  And it stayed in this skin cover ['dust jacket'] for  more than three centuries.
This is it :
moshaaaf4

In 1305 Hijri the Mushaf and its cover was moved to the Imaam Hussein display centre.
And in 1427 it was moved to the Library of Manuscripts, where for the first time it was photographed [page-by-page] and was saved in CD format.
Description:
It is in 1087 pages.  In large scale paper which is 57cm x 68 cm.  With every page consisting of 12 lines.

moshaaaf2

Its height is 40 cm, and it weighs 80 kilograms.
moshaaaf3

Alhamdulillaah.
"Verily, We have sent down the remembrance (The Qur'an) and surely We will preserve it." [Sooratul-Hijr 15:9].

Hajj - The Fifth Pillar of Islam

Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah . So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs 'umrah - there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good - then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing.   Quran 2:158

Hajj - The Fifth Pillar of Islam
It is obligatory for every sane, matured Muslim who has the financial means to perform Hajj once in a lifetime unless there is some physical disability. Women need to be accompanied by a Mehram.
Hajj is a Commandment of Allah Ta'ala
 Allah Ta'al has said,

"And pilgrimage to the House is incumbent upon men for the sake of Allah, upon everyone who is able to undertake the journey to it"– (3:96 Quran)
"And complete Hajj and 'Umrah in the service of Allah" (Qur'an 2:196)

"For Hajj are the months well-known. If any one undertakes that duty therein, let there be no obscenity, nor wickedness, nor wrangling in the Hajj and whatever good you do, (be sure) Allah knows it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best of provisions is right conduct. So fear Me, O you that are wise!"
(Qur'an 2:198)

The Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is reported to have said:
"Islam was built on five pillars: The Shahaadah - declaration - that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, performing prayer, giving Zakaat, performing Hajj, and fasting Ramadan." (Hadith- Bukhari,Muslim)

"O people! Perform Hajj for Allah has made it obligatory on you". Hearing this, a man said, "is it every year O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) kept silent until the man repeated the question thrice and then said, "if I say yes it will become compulsory and you won't be able to do it".
(Muslim and Ahmad)

Virtues of Hajj
"Whoever performs the Hajj and commits no lustful act during it nor disobeys Allah (in any other way) shall return from it as pure and sinless as he was at the time of his birth."( Bukhari & Muslim)
"From one Umra to another (i.e. the two Umras) become an atonement for the sins committed during the period intervening between them and the reward on Hajj-e-Mabroor (i.e. pure and untainted Haj) is paradise itself and nothing less." (Bukhari & Muslim)
"Those who make the pilgrimage for the Hajj or Umra are the guests of Allah. The petitions they make will be granted and if they seek deliverance from sins, their sins will be forgiven." (Ibn-Maja)

A warning to those who have the means and do not perform Haj:
"Any one who Allah has given enough to perform the Haj, and he also has a conveyance which can take him to the House of Allah. If he still fails to do so then it does not matter whether he dies a Jew or Christian, and it is so because Allah has said: Pilgrimage to the House (of Allah) is a duty men owe to Allah – those who can afford the journey." (Hadith-Tirmizi)
Hajj is….
l   One of the best actions of worship
l  The reward of an accepted Hajj is Jannah
l  Total Purification from Sins (as a newborn)< /o:p>
l  It is the Jihaad of women, children, old people, and weak individuals
l  The pilgrims are the Guests of Allah

DEATH may occur at any time, so if HAJJ is compulsory ……PERFORM IT!...DONT DELAY!
May Allah grant us the means, courage and strength to fulfil this Great Command of Hajj…Ameen

Handy Medical information

O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.
The Quran 2:153

When the world says, "Give up,"
Hope whispers, "Try it one more time"

[Hadith]Rasul Allah, sal Allah alayhi wa sallam, said, "If anyone continually asks forgiveness, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, relief from anxiety, and will provide for him from where he never realized."- Abdu Dawood, Hadith 599

Constantly asking Allah for forgiveness. It is the key to mastering your emotions, and finding ways of provision that you never imagined! For the next ten days, ask Allah for forgiveness 100x each day, and make it a habit.
